Discourses of hate and testimonial

During 1948 until 1994 in South Africa the apartheid was taking place. In a movie called " Goodbye Banana  this system is explained. A character named Gloria Greggory represents most of the white community and their fear and hate of black people.

Last month, the United States presidential elections took place. A Michigan Lady was asked who she was voting for and why, she said she was voting for D. Trump because one of her proposals was not to let Muslims and Latinos come in, this lady was totally in agreement with that proposal because she did not want that people who were not native take over their jobs.

These two women and the discourses of hate are similar because all of them talk about fear. This articles are not exactly about fear but none of the women has lived or shared a moment with a black person or in the case of the Michigan lady with a Muslim or a Latino, so they don't know if what are they thinking will seriously happen or not; with the hate discourses most of the people who didn't read it said that it was about the white people elimination, but it was really about the equality and the right of black people. Furthermore most of white people had never read it because they are afraid that what they think is real and that it became true.  And the Michigan lady decided to vote for D.Trump because she is afraid that they could take their lives away.

As a conclusion people are scared of other because they are afraid they could be better than them. And this happens more when people don't known; so is actually more about being scared of the unknown than being scared of people being better. These two women decide to make this comment because they are scared and they have fear of not being treated as they were treated in that moment.

The people are so beautiful

In this text the author explains what the social problems of touristic third world places are. The author explains that people who travel think that everything they see in the places they visit is an object, judging people and not caring about their feelings . Like there is no respect towards the destinations countries and their cultures. She also says that everything is based in stereotypes when she explains : " I commonly hear from white men travelling in Asia who apparently don't think there's anything wrong with saying "Asian women are just so beautiful". (This is a statement that could be picked apart in so many ways that it would resemble a shredded couch after a herd of tigers had gone through by the time we were done with it.)"

Tourist go to other cities and countries to discover new things, such as: different people, arquitecture, food, etc. To remember about it, usually tourist takes photos; taking them is not a bad thing, but some arquitectures are not allowed, and some people don't like to be photographed.

Once I was on the beach (in Cartagena, Colombia) and there were some argentine tourist, they started taking photos of a women who sells "cocadas" she became really mad with them because she didn't wanted to be photographed and additionally they didn't even ask her if they could take those photos; later, I saw them again in a mall, they were amazed by the mall and went they went out they were like <" Oh My God i love this place i could live here forever" > . In every story there are two sides the good and the bad one, in my opinion I think even thought they didn't asked the women if they could take the pictures is cool that people from other countries were amazed by a woman selling "cocadas" that for us the Colombian people is something normal because we have always saw them.  The only problem is that tourist including us, don't know how to communicate or express the feeling of amazed and because we don't know how to express it people get confused and think we're making fun of them, unfortunately there are people who do. Also the author says that people treats other like they are objects, as you can see in my anecdote those tourist didn't care about what the woman thought about that. Furthermore, the author says that nowadays When someone or something gets denominated with a stereotype its hard for people to forget about it, commonly those are bad stereotypes; one example is in Colombia. Pablo Escobar was the most famous drug dealer born in Medellin, nowadays because of him and because of series based on his story many people around the world thinks everyone in Colombia is a drug dealer, and thats absolutely not true, because of one person you can't judge many . And there  many cases like that around the world.

Finally, in each country you can find a variety of human beings and all of them different, in the article the author says: " Who are "the people"? While you're drooling over Indian women in saris at the produce market, are you paying attention to the women organising against mining companies and western intrusions in India? Are you paying attention to the women opposing tourism and fighting objectifying activities in their communities? Are you paying attention to the communities pleading for privacy and respect, rather than clumsy tourists everywhere? Because those are "the people" too, and you don't get to pick and choose the most appealing and affirming members of a society when deciding who represents it."

Demonstrate if specific time and place determines the social and cultural construction of identity?

To demostrare that specific time and place help to construct of our identity, I think that the most specific moment was in the colonization and when they imposed all their culture, religion and type of life, but throughout the time we have noticed that many events have been involved in the construction of our identity because if certain things hadn't happened we wouldn't be known by those events. One example of that is Pablo Escobar if he wouldn't done what he did (the drug dealing) we would not be recognized as a drug dealing country.

What is the role of an artistic manifestation in the construction of the social and cultural identity?

The role of an artistic manifestation in the construction of identity is very marked and important because the art is how some people communicate or express their feelings. One example that helped in the construction or our identity is the writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez who won an award and made many books and stories in which he includes the latin america’s identity; thanks to him nowadays we’re known as a country who has good writers and also because of Gonzalo Jimenes de Quesada that wrote Don Quijote a book in which he tells about his experiences traveling and also he tells what he likes and what he dislikes in Colombia at those times.

How does the creation of your album or cover help you constructing your own identity as a member of Latin-American community?

The creation of my cover help me construct my identity as a latin american member thanks to the information I acquired by investigating. To create the cover we needed to investigate about any latin America artist and any conflict that have happen. As at the beginning I didn't knew which conflict I was going to do, I investigated about many conflicts that have happened and how they have influenced us.

I learned many thing about culture, and also I learned how many conflicts have shaped our identity which for me is a bad thing because our country has become a rude one, and also the way we act to solve something and we end up creating a conflict and damaging more our "image".
